Google announced during the event (and demoed) that they've created a new, open API for any visual voicemail to integrate right into the phone/calling/contacts apps in ICS. So instead of needing a widget to see your transcribed voicemails, you'll see them right in your call logs! And you can interact with them right there.
The biggest plus? It's NOT just for Google Voice, but any voicemail provider you use!
Second best new feature? Open Social API
Instead of your contacts' card/entry having their email, address and phone, it'll now have that automatically linked with any social network that develops to the new API (currently, they have facebook, twitter, linkedin, google plus and talk). So when you click on "John Doe", you get a quick card to contact him through any of those mediums.
The coolest thing? Like Synergy on WebOS, it updates itself. So if John updates his twitter profile, that gets reflected automatically on your phone in his "people" card (they changed contacts to be called people)
