is there a way to figure out the hash number or whatever, then we can just download from google's servers

here is the 2.3.4 to 2.3.7 update url: http://android.clients.google.com/pa...0.2e8d4014.zip

using that we can fill in some information, but we need to know what "2e8d40143341" is for this build - can we see that from an updated phone?

It's not on Google's servers right now.

Jean-Baptiste Queru has been too busy to put the factory image of the Nexus S 4G with 4.0.4 up. We'll probably get it next week, depending on how busy he is.

As he said, best thing to do is to go back to Gingerbread and wait until you get the OTA (or wait until someone with the OTA grabs the URL for it).

Looks like OTA might be a bit bit different build from the leak. User who received official OTA reports base band of D720SPRKH1.

    Sprint Community: 4/5 - Nexus S Software Update - IMM76D (Android 4.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich)

The leak base band was D720SPRLC1, perhaps the RLC1 stands for Release Candidate 1?

    Either way... getting close.

I am fairly sure KH1 is an old base band, the 2.3.7 base band to be exact which got labeled wrong. IE KH1 and KE1 are the same.

I saw that video earlier today.

...It's incredibly laggy. I'm not sure what this guy is running in terms of apps and services, but it has HORRIBLE lag when trying to scroll.

i've never gotten lag on ICS as I tend to keep my phone clean and free of games if I'm not going to play them right away. Maybe it's just how he has his phone set up.

But I've also noticed his phone is/was rooted. So if he wasn't running a stock ROM then he would've not gotten the OTA. So who knows.

No I doubt that was the official OTA update because if you look at his apps, they have all been wiped clean like when you flash a rom and he even has Clockwork mod recovery on there.

It's already been confirmed that it is out, if you haven't gotten it yet then it hasn't hit your area yet.

No, the OTA IS actually out.

Jean-Baptiste Queru (who works at Google on AOSP) confirmed it on Twitter. Sprint also has representatives confirming that people HAVE received the update.

However, the update is most likely being given out slowly so as to not overload the servers.

Remember, not everyone who has a Nexus S 4G will go OMG MY PHONE UPDATED TO ICE CREAM SANDWICH because most people don't even know what "Ice Cream Sandwich" even is. All they'll know is "Huh, my phone looks different. Cool." and then go on about their day. There are more non-technical people out there who have this phone than you think and they won't make a big deal about it nor will they rush to these forums or XDA to figure out how to share the OTA.

Not to mention there's already someone on Sprint's forums who has the OTA but he didn't get the URL either, he simply updated his phone and that's that.

Now, as for how to get the URL (courtesy of Maximilian Mary on XDA):
If you get the update notification, say "not now" when it prompts you. Get the filename from /cache, and put this in front of it to get the full URL: http://android.clients.google.com/pa...ogle_crespo4g/.
You don't HAVE to do this. You can simply update it and not help anyone else get it. This is just to be nice and make sure others get it as well.

(EDIT: I just remembered something. Once you do upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, you will no longer be able to do the update.zip method for OTAs. You'll have to flash the factory images or simply wait for the OTA itself. If you do try the update.zip method, you'll get "Error Status 7", which is what a lot of people with the Nexus S ran into when they tried to update 4.0.3 to 4.0.4.)

yeah but then again he just booted up from the update process I'm sure it's going to be laggy at first.

That was WAY too slow for it to be the official OTA. Seriously, even when all your apps are being added, it's still not that slow. It locked up the App Drawer when he was trying to use it. If everyone had this issue, no one would want the Nexus S 4G to get ICS so badly.

This reeks of a rooted phone and someone lying on YouTube. He also had ROM Recovery on his phone, which only works on a rooted phone.

Not to mention most people go straight to About Phone to prove they're on the official update and he steered far clear of that.

Also, confirmation on the Sprint forums that some on XDA DO have the update and not a leaked ROM. Google is in control of this update and will be pushing it out over the next 10 to 21 days.

EDIT: If your device is not signed correctly by Sprint, you will NOT receive this OTA or any future OTAs. This means, you need to get off of the leaked 4.0.4 and get back on Gingerbread as it's most likely not signed by Sprint as it's not the finished product.

Everyone who is still on Gingerbread should have the update on or around April 15, 2012 at the earliest and April 26, 2012 at the latest.

I've updated my signature to reflect this.

Yeah. I didn't get the 2.3.5 update until about 2 weeks after the OTA started. It's usually a 3 or so week process overall. Rolling out like 5% each day.

Yeah, the OTA started on the 5th so 10 days from that is Sunday, April 15th and 21 is 26th. Let's hope it's the 15th because that's only 1 week away.

I don't even know how long it took Omaha, NE to get 2.3.7 because I just used the update.zip method. :P Unfortunately, as I said last page, that method no longer works after you update to ICS. =/

Is anyone with the leaked version able to take screenshots with the volume down + power button? It doesn't work for me. Otherwise, ICS is so much better and faster and the battery efficiency is marked.

You guys forget that not everyone wants or knows how to unlock the bootloader and not everyone wants or knows how to use Odin.

There are a lot more non-technical people with this phone than technical. Most of those people have the update already. :P

You have to hold it for a few seconds.
