Really I wonder why Engadget wrote this back to my e-mail that I sent them containing all the info in my last post.

    It perplexes us too Petrochemicals.

Discussing internally if we want to do an editorial and / or reach out to Google.

    Thanks for writing in!

I received that e-mail at 8:17 p.m. and then an article on the Nexus S appears at 11:29 p.m. So is it really any wonder that they now have this article http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/15/c...#disqus_thread a couple hours after my e-mail conversation with them? They obviously contacted Google as they stated they would and received a reply that it will be in a couple weeks. To stay loose on the date they did not quote Google on this.

It's a good thing you put this in perspective with that Syria stuff. I mean, really who on earth has the right to ask for companies to respect consumer rights when there is murder going on. The companies should be allowed to do whatever they want everyone, murder is taking place somewhere and that is more important.
You see how you support your arguments with facts and the other side has to resort to personal attacks? That's how you know you're right. Very well thought out and written post. Some people are happy to be trampled on. Some demand what they were promised.

Just because they don't care about getting ics, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be important to us. And it doesn't change the FACT that google sold this phone with a promise of the first updates.

I'll never understand why some people want to defend large corporations.

Google didn't sell you the phone, sprint did, so there is no contractual obligation. And Google's site (and sprints) both couch that update language with a statement of 'as soon as it becomes available' or 'as fast as humanly possible' . NOWHERE does it say that you will be first to get updates. You WERE NOT promised that by ANYONE.

STOP enabling him. He is WRONG in every legal and contractual sense.

I am once again going to request that we stop the bickering among ourselves. This is supposed to be a discussion thread, I understand people like to find reason for incorrect information or sources but its not correct either to start arguing among the members.

Lets try and keep things cool, we would hate to close up a popular thread due to our members not getting along.

    Thanks.

But at least their manufacturers have announced a relative timetable, even if it is as vague as "late March."

Samsung, Sprint, and Google haven't said a word about any anticipated release date. That tells me that they don't even know when it will be.

    GOOD NEWS, EVERYONE!

According to @black_man_X from Twitter, 4.0.5 will be hitting the Galaxy Nexus in early April. Before everyone freaks out about NS4G, this only adds to the information Engadget gave of the Nexus S and Nexus S 4G getting an update to 4.0.4 in the next few weeks.

For those who don't know, BMX is well known as a trustworthy source of "leaked" information. He's given release date info on the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon long before Verizon ever talked about it. Not to mention information on ICS itself before the Google/Samsung event.

Believe him or don't, this is better than nothing and it means that Google has stopped the freeze of updates on the Nexus devices.

EDIT: Another fun fact is if the Galaxy Nexus is coming on April 15th, then that means that 4.0.4 is finished or near finished. The worst case is that the Galaxy Nexus on Sprint will launch with 4.0.4 and not 4.0.5. Which also means that the Nexus S 4G update could drop this week or next (or, as I've said in the past, AFTER the Galaxy Nexus launches). Once again, this is also giving strength to Engadget's post.

I don't put much stock in one phone's update having anything to do with another phone's update. Different hardware, different 4G radios.

The radios don't have anything to do with this.

The Sprint Galaxy Nexus will ship with either 4.0.4 or 4.0.5. That's just a given right there as 4.0.3 has radio issues and has had them for quite some time. Sprint won't let Google launch their LTE flagship phone buggy right out of the box.

If it's true that 4.0.5 will be on the Galaxy Nexus then it also means that French website was correct in saying that the Nexus S's version of 4.0.5 does exist.

If people continue to brush things off, you'll end up right where you started with NO information and clamoring for more when there's at least a few trustworthy people around trying to tell you what's going on. Considering Sprint and Google won't tell you, there's not really much else you can go on.

The radios have everything to do with it. They're the only major difference between the two versions of the S.

This is probably the only post in this thread that is trustworthy.

I'd like to meet someone at Google who thinks that the Nexus concept has been a success. It's becoming a typical nerdgasm failure, great idea, terrible execution.

This is the only hiccup. The Nexus line has been great. You guys just need to relax. I'd rather them release it completed then half *** it. The Galaxy Nexus not having the update means it's truly not ready. It's just a phone, a lot of you need to put your energy into more important things in life.

No one's saying they should half-arse it. Just like no one's saying they want a bugged-up phone.

What we are saying is that if Google is going to tout this OS release as the greatest thing since sliced Gingerbread, then they might want to put the hammer down and get crackin' on a proper release.
