Ringtones, Notification Alerts, and Alarms stopped working

Within the last 2 months, my Motorola Photon's ringtones, notification sounds (system ones), and alarm notifications randomly stop working. All of the audio is completely silent. I have tried researching this issue, and everyone says it has to do with the Twitter App... however, I do not have the Twitter App. The only way I can fix this issue is to reboot my phone. A couple days after the reboot, it happens again. I have even tried to system reset my phone, and without fail, a couple days later, all of the sounds stopped working again.

Does anyone know why this is happening, or what I can try to fix this? I can't depend on this phone anymore, and it's really making me angry when I miss alarms, emails, and phone calls due to the sound being silenced for no reason.

Btw, I just returned one to asurion that had a messed up output sound connector...

I've experienced all sorts of issues with apps though, I can look through the list for you.

Iirc, scramble had a tendency to kill sounds... If it occurs again, go to task manager, kill it, try sound or uninstall.

Juice defender seemed to hurt my life instead of help, so I have my paid version just sitting in the play store. I have 2 batteries and 2 car docks though...

My sound went out earlier today at work, and someone else mentioned Scramble being the issue, so I uninstalled it, and my sound came back instantly... Wahoo!

Hi, all.

I am having the same problem with notifications, ringer, alarms, and voicemail randomly not working. Its been going on for months now. I deleted scramble with friends and that seemed to work for about a day...but now its happening again! If I reboot my phone that takes care of it most of the time, but only for a while... Here are the apps I have downloaded (I know its a lot) ... what do you all think? Suggestions? Thanks for you help in advance!

Try the syrious scramble?

No apps are popping out at me...

Text yourself, hit home quickly before receiving said text.

See if noise works - go to task manager, end single app, try again until you get noise.

Unfortunately, I've had to do this method a few times for different apps that murdered my sound.... So I'm experienced at it. I finally have a decent set of apps that work lol. Any other ones I want I keep on my nexus - doesn't bother me if it goes out because I don't have service on it.

It happened again... my notifications, alarms, sounds, and ringtones are no longer working. This is really starting to irritate me!

This happened to me once and a restart fixed it and it has not happened since. Also, sounds weird but I mean there have been times when I am receiving a text or e-mail or something and I interrupt the notification sound because I am doing something else on the phone and sometimes this messes up the sound. Restarting normally fixed this too.

Hi, I've been silently watching this thread since this issue has been happening to me in the last few weeks. I ran it on safe mode for a while with no issues so I uninstalled Twitter, Scramble, and a bunch of others that I thought could be the culprit and the sound still went out. I finally went to the Sprint store for a factory reset (I'm too much of a wimp to do it myself). That was almost a week ago with no sound issues. I will let it go for a few more days with no apps and see what happens. If it works I'll add my apps back a few at a time.

However, at least for text messages where people expect a reply quickly, it may help.

I am a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy Y and it stopped beeping when new text messages arrive.
I've tried every setting and even tried a reset factory settings. Nothing helped.
So I wrote an app to do this. Mind you, I did it mostly to solve my own problem.
It's free, there's no GUI and no ads.

Try an app in the market named SoundAbout. It has helped a lot of people with the same issue.
