When I say the s4 will be faster than than s3 I'm talking at the same location. Try running a speed test against an s3 and s4 in the same area and the results should surprise you.

I have a S4 and my gf has an S3 and I've got them both to pull 30 meg off a speed test on my home wifi.

So your saying that processor speed doesn't effect 4g speed on smartphones?

I am not. Depends on the phone.. If someone is running something like the first galaxy sure that will come into play, however, your comparing a Galaxy S4 to a Galaxy S3... Is the processor better in the S4? Yep... But not so much faster that your phone could pull a ton more Mbit than mine. Also we have think about the app and it's programming.. Is the speed test app programmed to use all the S4 cores? If not.. It will use the same amount of cores as mine when testing and ignore the others.

There are alot of factors when it comes to the processor affecting apps.. It's just like when quad cores for PCs came out.. Programs had to be programmed to take advantage of those extra cores otherwise.. It wouldn't touch them.

But yeah I can bet money you get a S3 and S4 on 4G LTE in the same location and your going to pull pretty much the same. Not exact of course that would be nuts but you aren't going to pull like 15 Mbit more on the S4 or something crazy like that...

Makes sense, I'm going to run a few tests against my friends S3 sometime when or 4G finally gets lit up here and post the speeds.

I get about 1mb down and .2 up with a 120 ping in ohio. this should not happen on the gs4

I wish I got speeds that fast. I'm lucky to get half that around the greater Sacramento area. I'm usually around the speeds of I can't listen to music streaming on my phone or even listen to a podcast play at 56k. This is while driving from one side of Sacramento to the other. Absolutely pathetic.

Well it isn't the S4 issue.. It's more of a Sprint issue & also how strong your 3g or 4g LTE signal is... I took the below yesterday morning a block away from my work. It is nice speeds since they have that area mostly covered in LTE now but a block away from my work I'm back to 0.3-1 Mbit down (depending on the day.. Some days great some days crap for 3g). So all in all really depends on the area and what they've deployed.

I just started picking up 4G LTE this weekend at my house and I'm stoked! I'm getting anywhere from 13.46-28.83 Mbps upload (I'd say averaging around 16) & 2.23 - 9.49 (averaging 6) for downloads. I just tried my wife's S2 & she is getting 1.00 Mbps down & .8 upload on 3G. I just rooted the S4 so now we have hotspot working for the laptop & N7 so we're in business :)

The biggest difference for me is that I can now watch YouTube 1080p HD vids without waiting & waiting & waiting for them to buffer.

Did you swap your upload and download? :).

I got this yesterday when I went to see world war Z.
