Thinking of switching from my BB torch to the Atrix, but have alot of questions and can't seem to find good answers.
I have an exchange account and want to know if it's possible to do a search for exchange emails on the Atrix. Is it also possible to do a server search? meaning emails that are on the exchange server and are not on my phone? Bb calls it remote search. Seems like the search functionality varies depending on which android phone you are using, Motorola, HTC, Samsung, etc.
I absolutely do not want to use 3rd party email software, such as touchdown, or k9 or others, only want the native email app.

Also, is activesync very buggy on Android? I hear people complain that their emails stop syncing for whatever reason with activesync.

I have been playing around lately with a Nexus one with 2.2.xx and can't do a search for exchange email on it. even bringing up the keyboard while looking at the email list, does not do anything as somebody mentioned in a previous thread. I don't know if this works on the Atrix or not.

These things are deal breakers for me, as BB is SOO good at this and even iphone has this functionality. Please help.

I have a Nexus One running 2.3 (Gingerbread). For me, Android does not let me search the mail app. I have my exchange account set up in the mail account and the search button on my phone doesn't do anything inside this app. It didn't on Froyo either. A buddy of mine has a G2 running Froyo and he can't search his exchange email account either. I don't know if it is just us, but it looks like the mail app is limited in this case. it sucks

Just curious why you do not want to use Touchdown. Many folks at my firm use this and love it. I was planning on getting this installed tonight on my Atrix.

I don't want to use touchdown, because I want to use the native contacts, calandar, etc with my exchange. i dont want to have contacts on the phone and then contacts within touchdown. coming from Blackberry, this works great, and I feel like using a 3rd party app like touchdown is using patchwork to get something working correctly, which should be working right to begin with. Also, playing around with touchdown for a little bit, I found it to be very customizable, but confusing at the same time, with so many options. also, when playing with touchdown, for some reason, all my contacts were not synced, and I could not retrieve all my emails, not sure if that had to do with having activesync and touchdown both turned on. But personally, I just like to use the native apps for these core functions, and like having them integrated throughout the phone. such as my contacts with facebook, etc.

Got an email from our company's admin today saying that he successfully upgraded our exchange server to 2010 SP1 - and that any Android running version 2.2 will not work with activsync anymore.
