Unrooting Question

Hey there. Just got a Captivate for Christmas, and I'm coming over from the iPhone 3G, so I'm pretty new to the Android platform. I just have a quick question. If/when AT&T/Samsung releases the official version of Froyo, do I need to unroot before I update or will it be ok to update without unrooting? I just got this phone and I don't want to brick it lol. If you're only rooted, you can update fine. The worst that could happen is you would have to root again.
