I mistakenly hit "Update" while the SMSC box was empty and now all I have is 00 as the SMSC. Never EVER hit update while that box was empty. Anyone know what the current SMSC is? I try to update the SMSC with +13123149810 but the app keeps on erroring out. Do I have the right number? Will the app not let me put in the correct SMSC?

Thanks,
BB

SMSC fix for Samsung Captivate

I was having the same problem! It sounds as if you were messing around in the service area using code *#*#4634#*#* or some similar code depending on your phone? If so, entering the SMSC # will not update/register in that location. I have a Samsung Captivate phone through AT&T, (obviously since that's who sells that version). I went in the actual message area....clicked on menu....well follow the steps below...I was up and running in less than a minute. If you don't have the same phone, it may still help...if not, I suggest going to the online AT&T question center, type in SMSC number and whatever phone you have and follow the steps...it's that simple.

Goal:
Access or Change the Text Message Center Number with the Samsung Captivate (i897)
Symptom:
Unable to Send Text Messages
Fix:
Samsung Captivate Keypad Layout

1. From the Home screen, tap Applications.

6. Enter appropriate Message Center Number, then tap OK.
*NOTE- you must enter the + sign before the number and exactly as it appears below.

Thanks. I never even noticed that the option was there. Unfortunately I tried to enter the number one more time in AnyCut and the next thing I know the phone went into a reboot loop. I ended up taking the sim out for the phone to work. Had to get a new sim :-(
