Apps on SD loading problem

About 1 out of 5 starts the apps I have on my SD card do not load
They don't show up in app drawer, but the ones I have on home screen work fine, but don't have the app picture, just a square with android written on the top and the same android guy on the market app

Might be a dumb question, but are you on 2.2 Android? Just making sure since I think stock, loading apps to SD is not an option.

Yea I'm on 2.2

Might be worth trying to format it and start fresh... both my internal and external SD got corrupted last night. Good times.

How are you guys on 2.2. I thought the captivate was 2.1?

There are custom ROMs available if you want to install Froyo. Check out the ROMs/Hacks sub-forum.

Several solid choices. The Captivate has it pretty good in that regard, and there is good noises about porting 2.3 from the Nexus S in relatively short order. Designgears has been implying it is almost ready.

Currently on Perception 9, but can also recommend Cognition and if you don't mind beta quality, Cyanogen mod 6.1 beta 3 is doable too (AOSP).
