Syncing My captivate with My mac?

Hey guys Im a recent switchover from blackberry to android and just got the samsung captivate. I would love to put some music on it and downloaded doubletwist. I have tried syncing it multiple times and followed the directions, I have it on mass storage and I mounted my phone like it told me to. But nothing happens, the directions stay there? I know it has an internal sd card but would I need to buy an external sd card for it to be able to sync? Someone with experience please help me. Thanks!

I use Missing Sync from Mark Space. Works good for both music and photos.
