Default Notification won't change

I went into my Settings-Sound-Default Notifications and changed my text tones to something different. Every time I receive a text it reverts back to a default sound. I have ringtones and sounds saved to my SD card. The only time I hear my own sounds is when I receive a Facebook message. My phone ringtone also reverts to a default one and not the one I chose. My Note is bone stock. No mods or anything. Any suggestions?

Go into Messaging. Hit your menu button, hit settings. Go down to notification sound and select your desired tone. You might have not change this in each app.
