I made a backup using ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery and now I'm trying to restore it (to a new phone that's the same model). I rooted the phone, updated, went into ROM Manager, Manage and Restore Backups, selected the backup, and hit restore. The phone boots into recovery and gives the error messages:

    E:failed to verify whole-file signature
    E:signature verification failed
    Installation aborted

I read online that the problem is having 3e and not 2e recovery, and the solution is to root the phone. But I have rooted it. Any ideas? Thanks.

ROM manager is very bad on our phones and causes the problem you are seeing. It should never be used.

I believe this post in particular will be helpful for you cause it's how to get back to stock
