Started the upgrade, we'll see what happens.....

OK, so how do you updated when it keeps telling you low battery, recharge, when it is plugged into your PC? Keeps restarting KIES.....

Well the biggest thing I've noticed so far is this being the first official firmware from Samsung to bring TouchWiz UX to the S2 for at&t. So we get all the nature sounds and the new transitions and whatnot.

Also, this seems to be the least buggy firmware update for the at&t S2 since I've owned the freakin thing. Seemed like before with every update bugs were fixed and replaced with a whole set of knew ones. I usually could find one within the first 24 hours of usage and so far so good with 4.1.2.

This might actually be the first firmware update that I can actually recommend for my friend's S2 since the last Gingerbread release. I play lab rat with my S2 and if all goes well I update my friends. So far my friend's S2 has stayed parked at Gingerbread because all the ICS updates were plagued with annoying bugs.

This update is a TOTAL battery killer on my device. Wakelock detector app shows Maps waking the device 500 times in 3 hrs! I'm getting about 4 hours from 100% just sitting idle. Anybody else with this issue? Only cure I see is to disable Google location permission, basically removing a pretty important functionality. I suppose rooting and installing Greenify could help..anybody else with this issue?

No battery draining issues here, about the same as Ice Cream Sandwich.

Battery drain seems to be directly related to Google Now, and specifically the location service. Workaround is to disable location services in settings or just turn off google now. I don't think now can be used on an underpowered battery in the S2

My battery drains about 75% faster than it did yesterday (dead battery every few hours). I saw something about media re-indexing (on the tablet) which seems to take a couple days (???). The old OS had a widget that allowed me to kill any open apps - I can't find that on JB. I want to like the new OS but if I can only use it when plugged in, liking it will be difficult, especially if I have to do a full recharge every few hours.

Does anyone know whether this cures the issue of the browser crashing and causing instantaneous battery drain? I know it's not a widespread problem, but I'm hoping at least one person can say one way or another.

In the manner of a few hours (overnight) my data usage increased by 1.5 MB - on IDLE! A phone call to AT&T is in progress to figure out:
    1. How to resolve the data usage issue both in billing and with the phone; and
    2. Resolve the battery issue (which may be reflective of the apps that are open which I can no longer control what's open like previous OS).
Should I find resolution to either, I'll post.

So far a couple things that could help - hopefully. I'm still monitoring but I've done the following:
    1. I've removed all Widgets. They seem to run continuously. If I need an app, I can simply open it.
    2. I downloaded My Data Manager. It lists all the apps that are open and indicates the current performance. Resourceful tool in that you can set when your data restarts and how much per month you have. It does not allow you to close any apps however (you'll have to go to Application Manager to close out each app individually).

For the 1st time ever, Kies on OSX worked where the Win7 machine did not. Talked about floored. No idea about the battery life issue being reported, as I did my upgrade while at work and thus plugged in while at my desk. Should have a feel for it by the time tomorrow morning rolls around.

The Widget removal and Data Manager seem to be working ok now. Battery no longer draining like yesterday and data usage is extremely low. Thankful.

Satisfied with the update -- other than the fact that I have a habit of double-tapping the home key. Now that it brings back Vlingo again, it's a little annoying.

Got battery life and app usability under control. Not happy with swipe updates though. Accuracy went from 85% to 50%. Anyone else with this issue?
