Can anyone recommend an email app that will allow me to receive push email from a non hosted godaddy email account. I am currently using the stock email that comes already loaded on the phone but it only allows me to synch every 15 minutes and this is too long for a business account. Thanks for any advice.

Push is a function that begins at the server. If the server is not capable of pushing, the app on the phone can not improve upon that. Simply put (and this is not meant to be technically precise, but rather understandable). Getting mail is a function that begins on the client. The client connects to server, asks you got any mail for me? Give it to me. This can only be done on a timed basis as the client has no way to know if mail is waiting or not. So, to do push, the server has to have a way to tell the client "I have mail for you, come and get it". This is done through a connection called a UDP connection where the server sends out a message that he's got mail for you. Now the server doesn't really know where you are, so it just kinda broadcasts it out there and hopes you get it. You usually, but not always, do.

So the server has to be capable of sending the "push" message. Some do, some don't. Microsoft Exchange server does and calls it Activesync. You'll have to poke around your server's site or ask someone at that server's site if push is supported.

    I hope this helps.

Pop is not push and cannot be done other than on a timed basis.

I'm with Go Daddy and came across your post.

Have you been able to find an application that would push your email to your device? If you have any questions regarding your Go Daddy email feel free to reply or send me a private message.

If you know how to get Push E-Mail from Go Daddy, please share on the forum so all can learn. I understood that Go Daddy did not offer Push.

Go Daddy POP and IMAP email servers do not support push.

If you need a push solution a hosted exchange account would provide you the ability to push and sync your email.

If you have any additional concerns I would be more than happy to help. Feel free to reply or send me a private message.

please provide instructions on how to do this, i just got a company email set up. website/email hosted through godaddy,

push is required, if not available, we will have to find a full service provider.

not having this push ability in todays business and smart phone age is just plain unacceptable.

    Thanks for your reply.

GoDaddy's POP and IMAP email solutions do not support push at this time. If you need a push solution, a hosted exchange account would provide the ability to push and sync your email. If you are using Exchange please visit the link below on setting up exchange on your Android device:

If you have any additional questions I'm more than happy to assist you further. Please feel free to reply or send me a private message.

What type of email plan do you have?

At this time we do not support push with our POP/IMAP accounts. However, push is supported on Hosted Exchange and Office 365 email plans.
