Hello all.

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S3 from AT&T. Running the latest stock ROM, Android 4.1.1, and I've got a question about my battery life. This is my first Android device, coming from an LG Quantum.

My phone for most of the day and last night, has been sitting idle, screen brightness on lowing settings, and except for this morning for about 15 minutes, WiFi, GPS, etc. have been turned off, with only Power Saving Mode on, and my battery seems to be draining pretty fast with little to no usage, which makes me wonder how it'll be on a heavy day of usage. Is this battery usage normal?

Thanks to all those who respond.

Welcome to Android. Your screen will also take the most from your battery mine does the same thing. I keep mine on full bright and I can get a day an half with my phone.

19+ hours and at 42% is great battery life. Would love it if mine got that.

And that's with nearly 3 hours of screen on time.

OP, this is very good battery life. Is this your first smartphone? You need to understand this isn't just a phone, it's a computer. And just like a laptop, if it's powered on it's running, using power. RAM has to be constantly refreshed. The OS is always running, listening for any commands it needs to act upon. The radio is always on, maintaining a connection to the towers. Some programs run in the background. If you have email, or Facebook, or any of a hundred other apps syncing data, that happens even when the screen is off. You might find this thread informative:
