HTC One speed questions

Hello all. I just got a One (my first smartphone) and I know very little about how they work so this might come across as stupid. One of the most important things about a phone to me is speed so this is what this post is about. I have a really large music library and I always download music and albums online and sometimes I encounter suspicious ads and I have been on websites that have been sketchy or have given people viruses. I have avast mobile security and I guess it works. It says my phone is good and is not in danger. I'm paranoid about ways websites or music downloads could slow my browsing speed and if they already have. How can I check to make sure my one is normal and not slower and stuff??? Again im a paranoid person and a slow new phone is something I don't want. also will my one slow down over time because I heard androids do??? Thank for any help and sorry for long post.
