I'd like to buy the Note 2, but am not in any hurry and just wondering if there are any sites that aggregate deals, or if any sort of deal is actually a reasonable possibility?

    Thanks in advance,

    John

There is always some kind of deals going on.

I really wanted an unlocked Note 2 but could not afford one so I bought a Nexus 4 16gb and then found someone that had bought a T-mobile on contract because they could not afford a Nexus 4 (which is what they wanted) so we traded he got his Nexus and kept his contract and I got a Note 2 and ask T-mobile to unlock it and they agreed so for us it was a win win situation.

So as I said there are deals to be had but if you are wanting to know when the price will drop then I don't think it will be any time soon.

"tmonews" seems like an interesting website to monitor.

Any deals on a phone without signing a contract? The Note II for prepaid plans is about $650 from T-Mobile--is it possible to do better than that?

You can but not sure why one would want to?..contact will lock in the price and for a few more months you will get a cheaper phone.

TMO is going to go to no contact and full price phone...who wants to buy a phone at full price? You never break even and never be able to sell the phone and make money.

Example bought upgrade at Walmart on the Galaxy 3 for $199 TMO wanted $320 + used it for a year sold it for $350 and bought Note II last night $278 $70 profit.

Not understanding TMO logic general public is not going to be paying $600+ for smart phones.

You would want to because of the advantages of not signing a contract. I'm looking for something I can use with "pay as you go" data, which you can do on T-Mobile (e.g., buying a day-pass for data just on days when I travel for business or monthly during high-travel times.)

The value plans are cheaper per month than the classic plan. So even though the phone appears to be cheaper due to the subsidy, in the long run it is costing you more over the 20 months.

T-Mobile is going to a Value-plan only environment, which has no subsidy but still requires a two-year contract. According to T-Mobile, ~80% of new activations are on the Value plan.

For new customers, the Value plan makes sense if you calculate the numbers. I had to calculate them for myself before seeing that it was cheaper over the 20-24 months to pay for the phone outright.

I've noticed that every Smart Phone is cheaper at walmart. The best thing you can do is wait until walmart get's it in stock and buy it then. It does take longer since it takes a while for them to get the phones in but if you can wait a month or two, sometimes three. You can get a much better deal at walmart then any other store. Like the crazy deal they have going on the Note 2 right now. I believe I last seen the Note 2 at walmart for the price of $229 they are out of stock in allot of places right now though. Due to the Note 2 being so popular and the demand being so high.

A lot of people still are back ordered with T-Mobile. I've seen a few new threads on many different websites. Mainly T-Mobile's own support page with people in panic over how long it's taking there Note 2 to arrive and the fact they are still not in stock is crazy. I'm not sure if it's just T-Mobile or other US carriers are having the same issue on there support page but it's pretty crazy to see how many people have been waiting week's and in many cases month's, to get there Note 2.

Possibly a stupid question...but how do you manage to take advantage of such deals... like at Walmart... if you are already a T mobile customer? Do you have to add a new line to get the deals? Cause at least online they always ask if you are already a customer and sign in... which then usually gives you a different price.

Walmart does upgrades for current customers and so does Best Buy Mobile...both have the phone for $199 some have gift card options, both honor 30 price drop, if the price drops lower then what you bought it for the make up the difference.

you sign up a 2-year agreement on a "Classic Plan". In this case you won't be able to take advantage of the uncarrier initiative where your monthly rates go down after your 2-years is up.

For TMo customers, this calculus changes with the new uncarrier plans now in effect... Walmart only sells "Classic Plans". For the most part, if you want a cheap Note 2, you need to buy a preowned one. I haven't seen a deal for the Note 2 on the unew uncarrier plans for a while. Likely no discounts would be cut until the GN3 is ready to hit the stores.
