Welcome to Android Central! May I ask why you need to do this? Gmail can be stored forever in your Gmail account in the cloud, as long as you keep the Google account. Why would you need to keep it on a hard drive?

I use Thunderbird as my desktop email program (on my Gmail accounts) and it can save emails to the hard drive. Most email programs have some way of doing that (for example, Outlook has "Save As text".)

Or Save a Gmail message to hard disk :: The Brush Blog
