Need app for setting default media volume

The default media volume is lower than I would like. I'd like to set the volume to near full at the start of every app that has audio output. I know Samsung did this to protect hearing, especially when used with headphones. I never use headphones, so that isn't a problem for me. Is there a way to permanently set the default volume to a higher value?

UPDATE 12/26/11: Well, I found an app that does the job called Volume Locker. It even remains at my required full volume after a reboot.
