New S2 recognizes SD card from old S2 phone, but not the saved app data?

I have a Galaxy S2 T-989 that won't charge so I bought another S2, did a factory reset on the new phone, and moved my SD card from my old S2 to the new S2. The new phone reads/mounts the card, and I can see my photos, but it says there are no downloaded apps on the card. I have done this before when transferring my husbands sd card from an old s2 to new S2... and after transferring his sd, the downloaded apps showed on the list. I had to redownload his apps, but all his game data was still on the card, so he could pick up where he left off. But after transferring my sd to my new S2, and redownloading the apps, the games start as brand new because it's not recognizing I have saved data on the card. How can I get this new phone to recognize the app data stored on the sd card?? So frustrating when I have easily moved sd cards between phones before with no problems recognizing that there was saved app data on the card.
