Why can't I hear callers talking and they can't hear me on my HTC Amaze 4 G?

can't hear callers talking and they cant hear me HTC Amaze 4 G

bought a used phone, sound works fine from games, youtube, ect.... But when making a call I cant hear them talking and they cant hear me!!! Please Help!!! ( I can hear it ring though)

Welcome to Android Central! Does it work if you use wired or Bluetooth headphones? Have you contacted the seller to ask if this was a known problem before?

the seller was just someone online like a "craigslist" type classified local site.. you can talk and hear the caller when its on "Speakerphone" ... my son doesn't have a bluetooth device to try

If speakerphone works, then it sounds like there might be problems with both the earpiece speaker and the primary phone mic. There may not be much you can do besides bring it to a repair shop. This is one of the major pitfalls of buying a used device from a private seller. The seller may very well have been aware of this problem, but was under no legal obligation to tell you.
