problem with keyboard

I have had the phone less than a month and recently ive been having problems typing messages. when i type a letter quickly or hold something down, it will start spamming the character along with other random characters. I noticed this when I was trying to hold down the erase key...other keys like V would start spamming. This is an intermittent problem. Do I just need to factor reset?

Do you have a screen proter on your phone that could be casing issues. You also can try downloading a different keyboard from the market before I would even think about doing a factory reset.
