Will this effect me in anyway possible?

Alright, so I updated manually to 2.3.3 awhile back (month and a half ago) I didn't install it to my computer and transfer the file to my phone, this is what I did.

I installed it right to my phone to my sd card (or USB storage)
I went into recovery and went into "downloads" and applied the update from my sd card without naming it .zip

So is that ok my phone has been working just fine and no problems, but since it's not the usual way, could it hurt my phone?

I doubt it. Your phone should work like any other Nexus S with 2.3.3. If you have the new NFC stuff on your phone I think everything will be okay.

Will I have any problems with future manual updates, and can I keep doing it that way. Sorry if I sound like an idiot I'm not great with recovery mode type activities.
