Will carrier unlock remain?

Hi!

I have a carrier unlocked Samsung galaxy note 3 from t-mobile, i want to update it to the newest android version available (I believe lollipop) but was informed by Samsung that if i do so i will lose my unlocked status. Is this true? I have already requested another unlock code from t-mobile if this turns out to be the case.

Any and all help is GREATLY appreciated!

Edit: I went ahead and did the update after some more research and the device remains carrier unlocked.

If your phone was carrier unlocked it is permanent. So you can upgrade and it will remain permanent
