lose of apps after battery goes dead

i am a new samsung vibrant user.. great phone but i have issues, the one that really stink is every time i shut phone off completly or battery goes dead or hook it up to the computer some of the apps that have have on my home screen disapper from the screen they r on, they r still in my apps file but i always have to put them back in there home screen spots and it is only certain apps everytime, is there a fix cuase it suck having to redo it everytime thanks

also when i first got it which is only a week ago, the 3g worked fine, now i have no icon and can only get on the internet in wifi mode, my wifes phone which is a motorola milestone her 2g network icon works fine and is there, i have no icon at all. any help please

Not sure about the apps issue, probably a good idea to try a factory reset.

For the data thing, go into your mobile network settings and make sure mobile data is enabled.
