So T-mobile offers no commitment plan unlimited web text with 100 minutes for $30.

I have Galaxy Nexus right now.. and was wondering if tether feature would work for free on T-mobile? Because right now i'm on At&t with 2gb plan and tether works fine.. i pay much more than $30.

I don't see why tethering wouldn't work, seeing that you have the unlocked GSM GNex.

This is really only a concern on branded T-Mo phones on stock ROMs that have countermeasures built into their software.

I am tethering off my GNex using TMo prepaid and unless you want to look at porn there is no problems. I was using porn as an example of common questionably appropriate content a person may seek out on the internet and they block all such content and rarely can you get them to disable the filtering if you are a prepaid customer. Welcome to the party!

From what I can tell roaming is limited to voice and even then not everywhere. Data appears to be only on the T-Mobile network. There are 2 sets of maps one for pre-paid the other for post pay customers. Compare them carefully there are some significant differences especially in the western US.

Not to thread jack at all but i had a questions about this same plan. This is the plan i currently have and i'm currently located in Los Angeles. Early next year i'll be in Texas and Mississippi for several months and wanted to know if i'll still be able to use my plan. Do these prepaid monthly plans work throughout the US? Will i need to change my number to a local area code of where i'll be or will my current number work fine? Thanks.

Wherever there is T-Mobile coverage, your prepaid should work.

You will also be able to keep your number

That's what i thought. I used the online chat feature on the T-Mobile site and the woman said i would have to change my number etc. I said to myself this can't be right, that makes no sense but i wasn't positive since i don't know if prepaid is different compared to being in a long term contract. Which is why i asked here to verify. Thanks.

NO. It will not work if you want the 30/month 5gb of 4g and 100 minutes plan. That plan is for new subscribers who purchased their phone at wal-mart or t-mobile's website. People who bring their own GSM phone or buy monthly 4G phone somewhere else will not be allowed to select that plan and have to choose between the 50/60/70 plans.

Actually it does work with unlocked GSM phone. I am using it on my unlocked GSM phone. You do have to buy the SIM online from TMobile (a buck) and cut it down if you need a microSIM (as I did, don't know why they don't offer the microSIM, but they aren't hard to trim down). Works great.

Can you get a new #? I just ordered the micro SIM yesterday to test the coverage, but it looks like they want a number port.
