It's a merger, not a takeover, but Legere will be in charge.

Yeah I never thought it would be a takeover. A merger with Legere at the helm is fully what I thought it would be.

    Fun to see what happens.

Still T-Mobile. They'll just rename their upgrade program from JUMP! to SPRINT! :P

SprinT-Mobile would be a sensible choice, but there's no way Legere will ever let Sprint be 'first'. Too much ego in there to do that.

Deutsche Telekom will still be the majority stake holder. I'm pretty sure the T-Mobile name will stick. If not? And Masa San has some say? I would bet the combined company could be called simply Softbank or Softbank USA or Softbank Telekom?

I think the Tmobile brand is stronger right now, and even those who are with other carriers, give them credit for bringing positive changes to the industry.

Honestly, even though it's a merger, I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the combined company was called T-mobile.

They could keep the Sprint name and use it for their prepaid plans if they wanted to.

Yeah they will keep the T-Mobile name. It has a better reputation versus Sprint.

I was working for a company that decided they wanted to do a "merger of equals" years ago. Yeah we all knew day one it was a phony ploy to appease employees and make us all think we all would keep our jobs and "nothing would change" as the ivory tower folks kept saying. Didn't take long before we all looked behind the curtain and and saw the Wizard for what he was so to speak. Soon one side of the merger team swallowed up the smaller side and killed off any idea of a "merger of equals"

Me, I hope that this takeover will offer up better coverage as towers get updated from Sprint. We have some spotty areas in town that may benefit from this using the Sprint towers.

Of course all the talk of having less competition which could equal higher prices does scare me a bit.
