It's known that Galaxy phones and tablets kill MSD cards. Music files on my Samsung class 10 card are not being written or read consistently.

In the S3 forum I read to turn on SD Card Protection in the Developer settings but can't find any such setting in 4.3.

    Comments, ideas, other solutions?

I've read plenty of horror stories with Sandisk cards in Samsung devices, particularly, the Ultra line of cards. This is the first post I've seen of the Note 3 doing this though. However, I do see the option you've noted in the developer settings on my Note 3:

Thanks for the reply. How'd you get to the Developer Options screen from the home screen. I've looked through all my options and can't find it. I'm an an ATT Note 3.

No problem. Go to Settings, tap the General tab, scroll down to About Device, go to the bottom and tap on Build Number 7 times. ...this will turn on Developer options.

Let us know if this enables you to do what you need to.

    Hey dbruins,

I used to have the S4 and also had the problem where that phone ate my SD. I called up Sandisk and they replaced it with a new one with updated firmware on it. I had no issue after that and the same 64GB card also works in my Note 3.

P.S. IIRC the S4 only ate the 64GB microSD's because they came preloaded for window computers... go fig.

Here's the update. I unmounted the Micro SD. Turned off the phone. Put the SD card in my computer and transferred music to it. Installed the SD card into the Note 3 and fired her up. All the music was there. Listen to the music for a while. Restarted the phone. Checked to see if the files were there. And many of them were missing.

So next, I format the SD card while it was still in the phone. Hooked the phone up to my computer with the USB Samsung cable. Transferred music to it. Restarted the phone. And 60 percent of the music was gone. I'm assuming it's the SD card itself which is corrupt. I'm going to buy a 64gb SanDisk mSD card and try it and will report back.

I have a cheap, generic, no-name 64gb MSD card I got off eBay just for the Note 3. I used a 32gb MSD card in my Note 2 and when I got my Note 3 transferred all the data straight to the new card. Most of the pictures, music, videos, etc didn't show up on the Note 3. But I put the old 32gb card into the Note 3 and everything showed up just fine. I tried formatting and copying the data and whatnot. The cheap eBay card is just not working.

My cheap eBay "Samsung" mSD did essentially the same thing.

But my new SanDisk 64gb class 10 that I bought off Amazon from SanDisk is working great so far.

If you're looking to buy a mSD card, skip the cheap eBay cards and buy a guaranteed real deal card.
