So I had a s3 with sprint. Was with Sprint many years but with their switch over to 4g lte it was just more then I could take. Got out of my contract and moved to ATT. So far I am very impressed, however it is more costly.but service is worth it. Now at the store man told me my same chargers and so on would work. To my surprise when I get home I see that the Note has a funky new plug on the cord. Ok no biggie so I take it to my USB charging port on my receptacle I keep in my kitchen, a new added addition to the wall outlet. It did say it was charging on the phone but it did not charge. I tried it two different times.

I see the phone will still take my old cord but it does not seam to work either. So I just use the OEM charger that came with the phone and all is well. So much for my new outlet...
Anything I am missing? Any help I would be thankful.

Was the outlet wired correctly for the USB ports to receive power. I've seen many people buy them and install them and they not work because there is a little more leg work to the install from what I gather.

My former Samsung Note 2 was very picky about the cable, it had to a good or original cable to charge.
Not sure about the Note 3 yet, it seems to be less picky.

I have one of those outlets and the USB port does not provide enough juice to charge the N3, as well as other various USB devices I have. It seems to work on iphone though, since it does not require as much USB power.

Stan very true. the iPhone wants a .5 amp charge. Android supports 1 amp. The Note 3 will charge at 1 amp. it will hold charge at .5 amp (the drain = the charge) but at 2 amps it will charge fast. most older equipment is .5 so most likely the output on the outlet is .5, hence the issue.
