Where did the microphone go?

I use my microphone to text all the time. This week it was replaced with smiley emoticons? WTH. How do I get that back?

You may have turned off google voice typing - I have to have that box ticked for the mic to show on my keyboard.

To find it:
Setting > (under "personal") language and input > google voice typing

I've included some screenshots that may help.

No worries. Glad it fixed your problem I like to use the microphone but with my accent (Scottish) mixed with a little American (as I've lived here for 7 yrs) ....it just won't understand me past 2 or 3 words haha. My husband loves it though as he hates texting.
