Switch to 2g/3g/4g?

Hello All-

Until recently, I was able to go into my phone's dialer, press *#*#info#*#*, press Phone options, and then set the phone to 'GSM Only' mode, and lock my Infuse to 2g speeds (in an effort to save battery life).

However, recently, I am unable to do so. When I switch over to the GSM only option, it doesn't seem to stick--- when I hit the back button once, and then go back into phone settings, the phone stays on the WCDMA/GSM preferred default.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or know of another free way to go about switching an Infuse to only use 2g data?

I just use jucice defender to save battery life and data enabler when I want to cut off all data.

Yeah, that would be fine to turn off data completely, but I'm looking for a low power overall option.

Any love for switching between network bands anyone?
