ZTE Grand X notifications icons

This may be a general question for GSM phones but I am confused on the cell signal indications on this phone. I will on occasion see a "G' then an "E" (which I understand is 2G data, and "4G". The problem is these will show in white and in blue and I am not sure of the difference in the colors. I have noticed the white icons with the wifi on and off and of course the owners manual dos not give any details of the difference.

Re: ZTE Grand X notifications icons

Welcome to Android Central! Which Android version is the phone running? If it's before KitKat, then blue means you're connected to the Google servers, while white or grey means you're not. Not connecting to Google servers can mean one of two things--(1) limited or no web connectivity, despite a strong wi-fi connection (which can happen if there is a router problem or an ISP problem), or (2) a problem with the Google servers (so you'd still be able to connect to non-Google sites).

Re: ZTE Grand X notifications icons

We are running version 4.3. Usually I notice the white icons in the weaker signal areas.
