0 messages restored from the cloud backup 🙁

I made a backup before I deleted everything and reinstalled with new os on my phone. When I restored the files from the Google Cloud backup only the photos was restored and not the messages.

It said 0 messages restored. I tried with older versions of WhatsApp, but the outcome was the same. Some of these messages were really special to me. Is it no way to restore those? Is it because it's on different OS?

Cause I am on same phone. Same number and same email. I only did a cloud backup sadly. Will it help if I downgrade to the old os again? I am desperate.

I solved it.

I must have made a local backup before I tried restoring the data from the cloud storage. So the app was loading a blank db backup instead of Cloud storage. Weird though, because it did actually say from my google cloud and not local.

I removed the local db file. Reinstalled WhatsApp yet again and this time I was not expecting anything and was completely shocked to see all messages being restored. This made my day. You probably think I'm silly to care so much for some text. I probably am too.
