All credits go to their respective developers (included in links), I just really needed to share this kernel, rom, and my success story! (Please note I'm not responsible for the information provided, don't cry if you brick your phone, but if you do or are trying to come over from CM7/MIUI please read this: Going from CM7/MIUI/OMFGB to another rom/Unbricking your device via XDA stickies)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ROM - [ROM][i500][09/01][EH09][ODIN][2.3.4] PWGB v2.0b3 TW-Based ROM via XDA
Kernel- [KERNEL][EH09][0927]TKSGB Kernel for EH09-based ROMs via XDA

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I have been a long time CM7 & Glitch Kernel users but got tired of the constant struggle trade off of my performance vs. stability. I recently decided to go back to something TW based and PWGB seemed like the right choice. However, I wasn't very pleased with a performance over all of this ROM w/ the stock kernel. This all changed today when the TKSGB Vooboo kernel came out, fast, smooth, reliable, OC & UV ready (I used Voltage Control)

The stock rom/kernel had HORRIBLE lag, the Adrenal 7 shot increased the performance a little but would get laggy over the course of a few hours. Quadrant scores were just slightly above stock Fascinate scores.

I have been dabbling around to get more performance out of my phone using the PWGB which in itself is great over all (no GPS fix problem / data problem like I was constantly getting w/ CM7) and have come up with the following. Paired with the new TKSGB Kernel (Voodoo) the phone is FLYING! I couldn't be happier. I'm currently hitting 2,100 - 2,300 quadrant scores and with little to no real word lag on a modest OC/UV. Currently rock solid stable @ 1.3GHz

I/O Scheduler: sio
CPU Governor: interactive

Voltages are as follows:
1300Mhz @ -25mV
1200Mhz @ -50mV
1000Mhz @ -50mV (this is a wake step so don't go too low or cause problems, if you have random freezes/reboots try leaving voltage @ stock)
800Mhz @ - 50mV
400Mhz @ - 50mV
200Mhz @ - 50mV
100Mhz @ DISABLED

I have also noticed one of the BIGGEST real word performance increase came after changing the VM Heap Size. Blah blah blah, this debate goes on forever, the truth of the matter is the PWGB rom sets your vm heap to a wopping 64MB! If you want to skip all the trial and error and go to a size that works go straight for 32MB (what i'm currently running after trying everything under the sun).

You can get the VM Heap Tool free on the market.

Thanks for looking and hopefully your fassy is flying on a great TW based GB rom soon too! :D

How is this different than the 0926 version (TKSGB-EH09-0926.tar.md5)? The file sizes are the same.

I'm not 100% on that, AFAIK this kernel [kernel][stock EH09][voodoo] imoseyon beta kernel, 0.2.1, 9/27/11 was the only other Voodoo Kernel available as of about 24 hours ago. However, it isn't as "refined" as just today only schedules were added as does not play with VC right of of the box.

I'm imaging just some tweaks and what not, they may very well be the same kernel over all. It's just that the date on the forum was from today and I didn't notice it until this morning. *shrugs*

There are currently 3 voodoo kernels for TW GB roms (when about a week ago everyone thought there'd never be 1!):

1) TKSGB
2) imoseyan's that you just linked to
3) One by ccampos784 himself
xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][i500][09/01][EH09][ODIN][2.3.4] PWGB v2.0b3 TW-Based ROM

I tried the TKSGB but before the 9/27 update. It was fantastic for most of the first day and then I started running into screen freezes and sluggishness. I've since gone with imoseyan's and been very happy, but I do long for the voodoo color and the ability to use Voltage Control to oc/uv.

I'm generally happy right now so I'm going to let them all progress for a while. If other people report great success with TKSGB I may have to give it another shot. I've applied the v7 shot and reduced the heap size to 32 as well and things are snappy as heck. As useful as Quadrant is or isn't I am getting consistently scores between 1825 and 1900.

nice op btw I had to cobble all this information together for myself across 3 forums and you've dropped the knowledge here for everyone else.

Thanks for all the info!
Im trying to get the right kernel but im having some problems. Ive tried all the voodoo kernels and i get a lockup in Google Maps with all of them except the imoseyon one. I can get out of the lockup by pressing the powerbutton and going back in. The only mod i have is the Adrynaline 7 shot. Ive tried going into applications>manage applications>Maps and clearing the cache also re-running the permissions.zip that goes with the PWGB ROM and i still get the lockups.
Anyone know of any fixes besides just sticking with imoseyons kernel?
Thanks

I had the 0926 version installed and I was getting screen freezes. I went back to imoseyan's and was fine and then tried the 0927 version and am still having screen freezes. Looks like I am going back again!

Couple small issue I found. 1 fc when using Spare Parts app to view Battery History. Phone wont charge if power off and plug in. I get the grey battery. Then second time I try it, phone just turn on by itself. This morning swype feel laggy, that might just be from how laggy it respond when i tap the screen. Still looking issues.

When you went over, what recovery did you use? I used 2.5.X all (red recovery) and manually clicked voodoo lag features. Although it says they are "on by default" it didn't actually complete a conversion on it's own until told to do so.

This could explain a few of the issues you are seeing. Did you re-partition before w/ the 2.2 atlas PIT? I know a lot of people where running into random FC and lag because of this.

Any time I can consolidate other people's knowledge to a single source and help the community I'm more then happy to do so. =]

No problem! To answer your question, I believe that imoseyons kernel is probably the most STABLE MODIFIED EH09 out there. Everyone else was pretty much contributing the random lockups to the VM heap size. I couldn't run maps but could run navigation on unmodified PWGB, however, changing the VM heap size to 32MB (from it's default rom allocation of 64MB) not only made the phone feel faster, I haven't had a FC on anything since!

I had the 0926 version installed and I was getting screen freezes. I went back to imoseyan's and was fine and then tried the 0927 version and am still having screen freezes. Looks like I am going back again!

Try changing your I/O scheduler via Voltage Control to SIO and disable that 100MHz step. I noticed SIO seems to be one of the favorite schedulers for the fassy pretty much regardless of what kernel I use. Get rid of the 100Mhz step because I noticed my phone never goes into "deep sleep" with it enabled and if it tries it just goes straight into a coma, not sleep...

And again, as mentioned in the post above, did you have a successful Voodoo conversion? You need to go under Voodoo (although they say they are on by default) in CWM and manually re-check enable lag fix(s). Only then can you be guaranteed a successful conversion.

The Spare Parts bat history is a known bug, hopefully they will get it under control. Swype gets really laggy if you mess with it's OOM or priority status other then stock. Did you possibly change it's priority via Auto Mem Manager or something? Try disabling it via Settings for input > While disabled, select input method on any text box to another keyboard > Re-enable Swype via settings and switch back.

If that doesn't work try: Settings > Application(s) > Swype > Clear Cache (clear data if need be).

You can always use Titanium to restore JUST Swype and not the data. Are you running 3.25XXX beta or previous version?

Im having the same exact issues except now for some reason with imoseyan's kernel my GPS has took a dive..i flashed back to stock eh09 kernel and now the GPS works great again and no screen freezing.

Lol, that's one of the main reasons I fell in love with this ROM. It's as close to stock as you can get without being tied down. Love the GPS lock on time, data on with no problem, etc... Nothing like CM7 with it's 892734927398 FC issues, google.framework issues, etc...

Go through some of the material mentioned above and see if anything get's your mind working on something you think would work for you. :)

@ EVERYONE - Has anyone noticed after making / receiving a call with the TKSGB kernel that you get HORRIBLE crippling lag for about 10 seconds. Then everything returns to normal... Anyone find a fix or work-around?

Will try to clear cache and see if it help. another thing I notice, I got a call this morning, after hung up the screen froze on me. The lit up buttons still work, but no respond from the screen. . Had to pull the battery. Then email, it keep telling me I have new email, even though I had deleted that same email 3x. Some how it still came back.. Super weird.

Check out this link: beta.swype.com - Uninstall Information. The new Swype public beta is amazing.

Here is a video from out of the lead devs @ Swype talking about the new features/advantages.

It's actually cloud oriented so the more data is input from users across the world the more accurate that word becomes and the likely-hood it will come up in the proper context.

i was trying out ComRom2.1 also. all i need as Odin the new rom, odin the cwm.. flash the permission patch using cwm.. then back to Odin the kernal.. all done. quite simple i think.. odin is very easy to use if u used it once or twice before.

what i found about this rom is that, i get better data reception at work. before it was terrible. i also notice an increase in battery life compare to CR2.1 ..i'm still testing this PWGB out.. it might be the one i'm going to stick with.. hopefully it doesnt froze on me like earlier today.

Also, if you are getting screen issues and Google Maps problems, try flashing the fix permissions fix from CCampos in the Fix Permissions post 297.

This does not perfectly fix GMaps freezes, but help a lot. You will need to flash this after you flash the new kernel if you are having problems.

For Voltage reset, you need to save as boot settings, but only do this once you are sure you will not freeze up. So test your settings before you save to boot.

When u said wipe voltage with cwm u mean wipe dalvik rght?
My first tried, put the phone on instant safe mode. Fast but a bunch of the apps disappeared. Straight. Will need to retry.

Okay I've switched back to TKS 9-27 and so far so great. imoyosen started getting a bit sluggish and jittery. Now you said this might be the Adrenalin shot? I've deleted the init.d contents and things seem to be going ok so far, but there were other files in /system replaced - seems there's no easy way to uninstall it ...

Anyone tried v8 or v8.5? I'm afraid things might get more messed up with only portions of the "shot" installed.

*man I missed voodoo color and having the freedom to uv/oc is great.

** k started lagging up again. I have would try to find the cause but brand be imoyosen kernel on the Rootzwiki is running nice. Has voodoo color and some built in oc

Thought I'd just check in with the other PWGB folks out there.

In case you missed it imoysen released a Fascinate specific min voodoo kernel which has been working FANTASTICALLY for me. It has included oc to 1200 and some undervolting. I've combined it with Adrenalin shot 9.5 and my phone is stable and FAST (I know Quadrant scores mean little, but I'm up around 2100 give or take.

I think this is the best kernel - he's added BLN support but I haven't tried it personally. Other people having success with other kernels? The only issues I've run into is some freezing issues with Google Maps (I think there is a fix for this as I know I read others dealing with this - need to do some reading).

Very excited about the possibilities of Resurrection, but I'm very happy for the moment.
