1.00 1.01 1.1 for Auto Nooter-- does it matter?

I am about to purchase a Nook Color this evening. One of the first things I will be doing is rooting stock. I don't want to try Froyo, CM7 or HC until they are more stable.

I know you need to check for the version type of firmware before you root it. Does it really matter which one I am on?

For example, if I am on 1.01, should I update it to 1.1 so I can use Auto Nooter 3.0? Or is it preferable to root with an older firmware version? This doesn't seem logical but it seems I have read hints about this being true for the NC.

Also, will a 2 GB MicroSD work in rooting this with Auto nooter?

I just bought mine, updated to 1.1 then autonootered with 3.0, and it works well. My biggest complaint is that long pressing on the home screen with any launcher doesn't work quite tight. Anyone know how to fix this?

So it sounds like either way, you will be forced to updating to 1.1 which I assume is a good thing. I just didn't know if using Auto-Nooter would be more difficult at 1.1 or easier or the same....

Let me clarify, don't do any OTA update or you'll loose your root access. I simply manually updated by using a flashable ROM thru CMR.

I have only rooted 1.1 using auto-nooter-3.0, but it was a piece of cake and I doubt if the earlier versions could be any easier.

For some reason I can't update my untouched NC to 1.1 using the instructions off of barnes and noble. Now, I know the auto-rooter will work on the 1.0.1 currently on my nook but after rooting it, can B&N force it to update?
For example, say I had a rooted nook and B&N releases 1.1 onto the internet. Will the nook try and download and install that update automatically or will it just ignore it since it's rooted?

Thanks for helping an android noobie out.

I had mine rooted running 1.00 and it auto updated and was completely reset with 1.1, I rerooted using the autonooter for 1.1 about 3 weeks ago and all is fine.

i have not used my NC in a while trying wait for the advances to be made. i autonootered on 1.01, will this automatically update me to 1.1 when i turn it on and will i lose root?

Well, I got the Nook and it had 1.1; so I just did the 3.0 Auto Nooter and it was so easy that, wow. I am speechless.

I love this little thing. I am out of the tab buying business for sometime.

I plan on sitting on stock rooted until either the 2.3 or 3.0 become stable.

Mine was fine until I went back to the stock B and N launcher and tried to look at some newspapers or something, thats when mine updated.

I am with you, Autonooter 3.0 isn't perfect but it is very good. I will wait till BC is stable before I make any further drastic changes.

3.0 isn't official auto-nooter, someone took the name and just stuck 3.0 at the end. The developer of the original Auto-Nooter advises against it, as it is known to mess up the boot partition a bit and make clockwork unreliable.

This seems to be the most stable root for 1.1 there is:
[RECOVERY] Monster RootPack 0.7 / Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 SD (1.1 Compatible!) - xda-developers

First time I'd seen this on 3.0. I used it and can't say I had any problems. May return to stock and reroot now.
