It is unacceptable. I hope it can be fixed by software because when I am in a strong 4G area, man is my GNex fast! If not, I guess I will sell my pretty, little pocket-sized computer and get a cell phone.Sorry but that's unacceptable.

Good lord. Please actually know what you're talking about when you post.
The nexus shows actual 4G signal. All of the other phones you mention show 1X (voice connection) in their signal display. I can assure you that if the Thunderbolt or Rezound showed the actual 4G signal, it would be identical to the Nexus'.
Good example of bad signal. Looking back at my screenshots I posted on this forum I averaged 1 to 2 bars on the nexus. With my iPhone, Droid X, Thunderbolt, Rezound and hit and miss with my OG Droid I averaged 4 to 5 bars. These screenshots were taken at my house.
Sorry but that's unacceptable.
Ok,
Please read the bold. I see you know that the Thunderbolt and Rezound are 4g phones.
You still don't get it. The Rezound and Thunderbolt may be 4g phones, but the bar indicator does not indicate strength of 4g signal for them.
This has been discussed many times at this board.

But dBm's are significant. And the GNex fails on that front on 4G where I live. You do realize these are digital phones? 0 or 1. You either have a signal or you don't. It sounds like you want to have a lot of bars, which ultimately are not all that significant.
I get that part. Just like the #1 complaint, the low signal also caused dropped calls. Never had i dropped a call with verizon till i owend a Nexus.

I hope you are correct and that the problems are software fixable and not hardware problems we are stuck with. I can wait for a fix, but if no fix is possible, that is a different issue.Who has said the Nexus doesn't have problems? The difference I see is that some do understand there are problems but also understand there are work around for those problems or that solutions will come along.
The dropped calls happen mostly when the phone is switching from 4G down to 3G. If you are in a strong 4G coverage area like Chicago, I am sure it isn't a problem for you.
okay, so i'm sure many of you got this phone right on release day, so the big question: How many of you will be sticking with your nexus for the long haul, and how many of you will be returning it to the store?
Personally, i'm in it for the long haul. I absolutely love this phone and the issues that have been discussed repeatedly on this forum have not had a significant impact on my experience. I feel it will be a while before i see another phone on the market worthy of replacing this phone (imo) and when i do, it'll prolly be another nexus.
I did not return my GN during the return period. To be honest, I am now wishing that I had. How we view our own experiences with our phones is singularly dependent on how we use our phones, what services on them are critical to our needs.
At home I use the GN on wireless and up to owning the GN it has never been a problem with other phones. I've used my Dinc (now used by my wife), my Thunderbolt, my Samsung Charge and all worked all over with our wireless. My GN is giving me fits with wireless. We have a very large area that needs to be covered by wireless and it was never an issue up to now. I sometimes use my GN at the same time and in the same room as my Asus Transformer. The Transformer hums along just fine while the GN either has no signal or it shows an extremely weak signal and doesn't bring in any data wirelessly.
I loved the GN and sat on it thinking that I could live with this, but I now realize that this was a mistake. As much as I love ICS and the large screen, when it comes down to pure usability (that is usability for me, my needs and in my space), the GN simply is inadequate.
I don't drop calls and in stronger areas the data works well. I use wireless at home because we live in a very marginal area and signal is iffy. Wireless was always my workaround when at home, but now, that is no longer the case. I am considering going with the Rezound. As much as I am not a fan of Sense, and I hate the thought of going back to Gingerbread, even more I hate the thought of a phone that just isn't working for me.
Sorry to hear you're having issues with wireless. My motto has always been "when in doubt, let it go". I havent really had any doubt about my Gnex since day one.
My wifi works perfectly. Have you tried returning it for another gnex?
