17.6 GB of data in one billing cycle.... Priceless.

I cancelled my Comcast internet at home (savings of $60.00/month) and have used the 4G for all data at home. 17.6 GB's of data in 28 days. Completely included in my @sprint bill. On AT&T, the same amount of data would have cost me $195.00 (DataPro plan w/Tethering) and Verizon is currently considering data tiered pricing plans. My cost? $10.00

1. that's a lot of porn.
2. technically - shouldn't that really be costing you $10 for Premium Data + $30 for Tethering = $40? so it's really an apples vs. oranges comparison but instead you are circumventing the correct pricing structure.

4G hotspot was free that billing cycle. Ran a hotspot just about every day with 2 or 3 computers attached. Total price... 10.00

Next month... It will cost me an additional $30 (totaling $40.00) which is a 1/5 of what AT&T would get.

Nice assumption, I do not care for most of your comments.

my cable high speed internet is only $20/month. if you have competition in your area - your cable company will negotiate with you.

Comcast used to be $20.00 for me... as a one year promotion. Then raised to $59.99 if you don't use them for Cable television or phone. Which I don't.

I have as cheap as it comes here in Houston and it's $40 because if you go with AT&T they require you to have a phone line or you can go with Comcast and their cheapest plan is more.

did you try to call them and negotiate with them to continue the promotional rate before you gave them the long kiss goodbye?

1. everything in life is negotiable.
2. if you don't ask - you don't get.
3. what do you have to lose?

play them against one another. they don't want to lose subscribers and that annuity revenue stream.

It's pretty lame that you'll have to pay $30 for the hotspot in addition to $10 for the premium data.

Of course I did. Honestly I didnt want to leave them. I tried all the tricks I've learned from negotiating with Sprint. Spoke to retention department... threatened to go with Clear or AT&T. In fact I was pretty sure they would cave. I wasn't in contract and told them I would sign on at the advertised price (the 20.00/month price is always available for new customers). Three different reps and supervisors and in the end... I was told to leave the Cable modem on my doorstep and someone will come by to pick it up.

Long story short.... the Evo is saving me money.

May be "lame"... but for those who understand this... it's cheaper to pay $40.00 than anything more than $40.00.

This is especially true if you were paying more than $40.00 before.

hmmn. they fold like a cheap suit for me every time. but i'm in a major metro area (east coast) with a lot of competition - ie Verizon FIOS etc.

yeah but i don't want my hotspot and phone running 24/7/365. and i don't want to have to turn off/on/off/on/off my hotspot widget all the time. because you certainly can't keep it running or you will kill your battery life among other problems.

Never said it wasn't a good deal... Just that it seems they're piling on a bit.

evo + pdanet = no home internet + no 30 monthy fee

That is a good deal... except:

Evo + mobile hotspot = Running 3 laptops, streaming netflix on wii, daughter's iphone on evo's wifi and playing Tekken 6 on Ps3 (online)... all at the same time = priceless... (or $30.00).

I keep the EVO plugged in and kept cooled (normally AC vent)

if you are going to do all that, than yeah, it makes sense.

Nope there's cheaper. I too, live in Houston with-in the 610 loop. AT&T have their "dry-loop" DSL service here, meaning that you can have DSL without a phone line, but you will have to pay a few bucks more premium. I believe their cheapest is $14.99..but also their slowest plan and a 1-year contract; above that is $29.99 without a contract. Prices might have changed since I'm only typing from what I remember from last year.

Right now I have Comcast for a bit over a year and still kept my promotional price. I'm on the performance plan and the secret is to call their cancellation department and tell them that your promotional price is ending soon and you won't be able to afford their service anymore..usually they will extend the promotional price for another 6-12 months. You can just repeat that process again once it's about to end again.
