Just completed a trip from San Diego to Atlanta and back. Turned the phone off completely before plane left San Diego. Arrived in Atlanta and turned the phone on. Couldn't get the phone out of 1X. I know Atlanta and the airport have 4G. After several days the phone finally did find 4G.

Returned to San Diego same thing turned the phone off before leaving Atlanta. Arrived in San Diego and turned the phone back on, phone is stuck on 1X couldn't get it to change. After several days removed the battery and replaced. Phone now sees 4G.

Seems to be a bug when turning phone off and leaving one city. Then turning it back on can't get anything but 1X.

Anyone else experience this while on travel long distance?

Yea

Had the same problem from San Francisco, to Washington DC... When I got to DC it wouldnt go into 4G mode no matter what I did.... Was quite wierd....

Did you try switching the network type around by using either the application LTE onOff or by dialing *#*#4636#*#*? I've noticed that changing from the dual band mode to LTE only mode will help it pick up a 4G signal when all else fails. I switch it back to the dual band mode as soon as I can though as there is no need to keep it on LTE only after that.

This was only locally and I can't confirm that it does help while traveling.

Yep did the switching around. Set it on 3G in Atlanta, it did connect 3G for awhile, tried going back to LTE still went to 1X. On the final day I was there kept it on 4G LTE and 4G finally came up just in time to turn it off before plane took off.

Seems there is a switching problem between networks as was rumor before release.
