2.1 Lagging Keyboard

After upgrading to 2.1 (OTA), my keyboard has been extremely slow. It lags between words, more often than not causing it to insert the special symbol associated with a long key stroke. It is extremely frustrating. It will take me minutes to write out a short text message when it should take seconds.

Has anyone else been having this issue? If so, can you offer any advice? At this point I am ready to downgrade back to 1.5

I am not having this problem at all. In fact, I was having some minor keyboard lag on 1.5 in the messaging app.

You can try turning off haptic feedback to see if that helps. This is somewhat drastic, but you also may want to consider a factory reset and reinstall everything from scratch as a last resort before downgrading to 1.5 (which, I would imagine, would do the same.)

i have been having this problem since i got the phone, it only happens about once a week. yesterday was my day, after getting a phone call my phone became highly unresponsive. the keyboard would register the right buttons, but the trackball would not allow me to go back, nor would tapping on the screen. i had to delete back to the word to get to the spot of the mistake. after finishing my text, i opened up my task killer and realized that i only had 20mb of free memory, after killing nearly everything i could my phone was just as zippy as it was before. sorry for the long winded response, but i just wanted to put my 2cents in there. try killing some tasks? if that doesn't help, maybe clear out the cache on your keyboard itself and clear the data? this deletes any saved words you have, but it may help? good luck!
