2.2 Calls Received Issues - Fix with Kernel/Rom?

I have been having issues with my phone receiving calls intermittently and pushing texts to my phone as a batch. After digging, it looks like this is related to the froyo upgrade and is a known issue with Verizon giving phone upgrades to those affected. Unfortunately, my phone took a dip in a lake long before I started to have this issue and it tripped the moisture sensors so I don't qualify for the upgrade. I am new to rooting and installing kernels/roms/themes but it seems to me that if the issue was the software push, changing the software should/could fix the issue, correct? I have rooted my phone but have yet to flash anything to it. Will flashing a clean, rooted version of 2.2 fix the issue, or should I be looking to a different build? If the latter, what do you guys recommend? I'm a bit overwhelmed by the options...

It seems to be affecting all builds, not just the stock ROM. If switching out your phone is not an option, there is supposedly an OTA on the horizon that is supposed to fix the issue. ED05 was leaked however, so you can flash it now to see if it fixes the issue

A new build of 2.2 is currently being tested that supposedly addresses the missed call issue. There's a leak if you wanted to give it a try, it's build ED05. Short of that, any previous version of 2.2 isn't going to fix the problem, cleanly installed, rooted or anything.

If the missed calls aren't a major problem, you can just wait for the OTA which, I'm sure, they're trying to get out ASAP so they can stop replacing people's phones with newer ones.

Unfortunately, waiting for the fix isn't an option at the moment as I get work calls through my personal phone fairly frequently. So if I'm understanding correctly, going to a rom based on 2.3 could conceivably fix the issue (CM7/Kangbang?).. what about going to a eclair-based build?

Eclair fixed the issue for me at one point. I also had very good luck with CM2.1 and the EC09 radio. I suggest giving CM7 a try. Even with the stock JT Kernel it is very solid and no missed calls that I'm aware of. And in case you were wondering it is NOT based off of EC09 so no need to worry about your SD card getting trashed.

Weird, I've never had any missed call or text message issues with my Fascinate.

I'm currently on Com Rom 2.1 W/ED05 Modem and get all my calls/texts perfectly.
