So today, my Neztech 2400mAh Extended Battery came in, and to my surprise, Gingerbread was released today for teh Fascinate. Twas an awesome surprise and very convenient for me. I DL'd Gingerbread with my new battery, reset my phone after the update was applied and decided to test the battery to see if it lived up to it's fame.

I streamed Pandora for 2 hours while playing some Kingdom Hearts and my phone went from 96% to 91% in 2 hours. I was very freaking happy with what I had seen so far. I started texting and my phone battery just started dropping fast. It went from 91% to 77% in about 45 minutes with nothing but casual texing (no Pandora involved.) I checked my battery usage and it said 45% was from Pandora, and only 3% was from the messaging app, so there is no way it was from texting.

I stopped texting and called a few people and did some internet browsing and after about 25 minutes, the battery only dropped to 76% and it's been there for about an hour with some minor internet browsing in between.

So far, this battery is absolutely great, but texting really just did some damage to the battery. I'm gonna do some more testing but I just found that odd and maybe the newest OTA did something with the messaging app or how the phone sends and receives texts?

It is probably just the battery calibration. The new battery will act differently than your old one. The voltages will be different and the phone has to learn this. It should get better after a couple full charge and discharge cycles. You could also try wiping the battery stats but you need to be rooted to do this.

Thanks :D! For the discharge cycles, do I need to completely drain the battery? I read Li Ion battery's shouldn't be drained fully, is there anything that I should do to condition it specifically?

Also, is there any rom that you can recommend for rooting? I love the Samsung UI and how smooth it is, I just hate Bing and the freaking bloatware. Is their anything out there that will keep Gingerbread and the Samsung UI but get rid of the bloatware and Bing?

And sorry for all the questions, I'm new to the rooting scene and whatnot >___>

i would let it discharge completely, and if you dont get it to even out in next three cycles i would tell you to download a calibrating app and let it code it out..

Hey guys quick question. I just switched from a Droid X to a Facinate and love it so far. When I had my X I bought a 3500 mah extended battery but the phone would never show the correct battery %. It would go from 100% to 5% in 3 or 4 hours then stay at 5% until it ran out of juice sometimes another 10 hours even with very heave use. I later read that it was a Motorola issue and that Moto phones don't read aftermarket batteries correctly even if you root and wipe the battery stats. So my question is, does the Facinate play nice with extended batteries???

Thanks!

P.S. sorry if this thread isn't best place to ask.

No they work fine. Just like the previous post, you may need to run a couple cycles.

You can also try the battery Calibrator app in the market and see if that will work on a non rooted phone.

Keep in mind, your phone will act funny, thinking it still has the old battery in it.
