2.3.6 update brings VoLTE to Razr!

I downloaded the 2.3.6 leak that was featured a few posts down and to my surprise it makes my phone able to make calls and brows data while on 4g!!

Anyone else discover this?!

I don't understand, are you saying that you can do both at the same time while on 4G? If so, that's not new.

Before the update it used to error out when I would be on a phone call and go to the internet. But since the 2.3.6 update its worked. Maybe it just fixed it for some phones but I had yet to be able to do this until the update.

This got me thinking....is there a way to tell if we are making calls on 3G or 4G? How would we really know?

You haven't been able to do that all along? When you are 4G LTE, you are using a separate antenna from the CDMA. Your phone should have always been able to do that.

You are making calls on CDMA. 3G and 4G are for data. Now if you used Skype or Tango you would be making calls over 3G or 4G.

The device already is able to browse the web and make phone calls with a 4G connection. It uses the CDMA to carry the voice connection and LTE to carry the data. This isn't to be confused with VoLTE though. That is still forthcoming and will bring HD voice calls once its enabled.

Well, I figured out my own problem: I'm in a marginal 3G area. When the phone is in 4G, it does simultaneous voice and data. But, I had no idea I could--I thought VZW limited that capability. My smartphone is so much smarter than I am. Humbling.

Like the others have already mentioned, you should have always been able to do that.

Just FYI, the Rezound and Thunderbolt can do voice and data simulataneously over 3G which the RAZR cannot.

If you are wifi you can. If you are on 4g you can. If you are on 3g you can't.
