2 Numbers, 1 Phone: Is it possible? (Carrier SMS in Messenger and Google Voice SMS in Hangounts?)

I have a Verizon carrier (VC) number and a Google Voice (GV) number on the Moto X (2nd Gen.).

I'd like to receive and send my VC SMS in Google Messenger and receive and send my GV SMS in Google Hangouts. However, I can't seem to set this up...

I can accomplish using Google Messenger for my VC SMS and the Google Voice app for my GV SMS. However, because the Google Voice app doesn't support MMS, I'd like to transition to Google Hangouts, but I can't seem to find a way to set up Hangouts without establishing it as the default SMS app, thus disallowing my VC SMS from using the Google Messenger app.

I can't tell you how grateful I'd be if you could help me resolve this!

If I'm not mistaken, you can still do that but you need to 'link' your Google Voice number to Hangouts through the GMail web page. Make sure you're signed into Hangouts there, too. Then click the arrow next to your name in the Hangouts widget and scroll all the way down to the Google Voice section. That should do the trick.

SpookDroid!

Thanks for helping out... though I can't seem to find what you're referring to. (FYI: I have a Google Apps email account.) Here's a picture of my email account (see attachment). Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks again!

It looks a bit different on mine Oo haha Still adding the picture for reference, BUT I just tried it from the Hangouts app on Android, and it works. It DOES give you the warning that Hangouts isn't your SMS app, but if you send yourself a test message to your GV number, it's still showing up in Hangouts.
