Before I get into this, I think the Pixel looks like a fantastic phone and I'm very interested in getting one...
However, with all the articles coming out saying that Google only had 9 months to develop the Pixel and that they ran out of time for waterproofing as well as all the rumors/speculation about what Apple will bring to the table for the next iPhone at the 10 Year Anniversary of the original iPhone, I'm left contemplating if it makes more sense skip the Pixel and hold out for one more year. I think Google will really step things up next year:
- Less safe/"boring" design with better use of front panel space
- Glass panel on the back for signals will remain, but I'd hope for something smarter to ensure the camera glass doesn't get scratched
- Waterproof
- Custom-designed Google processor? Probably not, but maybe. More likely the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 variant. Of course it'll be faster with a better GPU.
- 4K HDR video recording
- 4K video recording at 60fps with EIS
- New camera software magic for zooming in on photos with less loss of sharpness
- Same support and unlimited photo/video backup
- Continuation of exclusive software
