I can't directly answer your question, but I believe there hasn't been much change in dedicated BT phone headsets for a while. That market is likely limited to truckers and other professional drivers, and likely tilted to higher end headsets. Most others use their cars' BT audio or their earbuds. I remember Plantronics 5200 series being nice and possibly available ~$50-$60, and Jabra products being highly rated. Both are probably out of the budget range.

Phone calls are my wife's lifeblood when it comes to her work, and so she's tried a lot of headsets. The best for sound and mic quality continues to be the Pixel Buds A.

So guys and gals, me and the wife have been looking for a good over the ear style Bluetooth earpiece for one ear (not earbuds that actually fit into both ears). We use them for hands free phone calls only, no music, and don't want both ears plugged up with inner ear buds.

Plus we've found that over the ear designs stay in the ear way better. The problem is the models we've been using, like the Plantronics 5200 and Jabra equivalents, are the same models from years ago, and have taken a huge step down in sound quality and overall durability... I'm guessing from covid cost cutting measures. Everything seems to be more cheaply made since the pandemic ☹️

Any suggestions for a good over the ear Bluetooth earpiece that actually works? If we have to, we'd even be okay with earbuds if we can only wear one, and it will securely stay in the ear all day comfortably, without falling out every time you move your head wrong.

But phone calls are the priority, nothing else.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated 😉

These are pretty good -- two ear, not one, but they're on-ear and not over-ear, so they don't totally isolate you from ambient noise. Call quality is excellent, and the mic cancels out ambient noise really well. Plus, you can use them for stereo music. https://www.jlab.com/products/go-work-pop-wireless-on-ear-headset?variant=39563867553864
