That is what's left after system use.......

Some of the memory gets allocated for system resources like gpu, system reserve stuff. No phone has all of the marketed memory avaliable for apps.

Well. It's either 2 or 3gb, and nobody makes 2.3 gb rams. It just doesn't exist. Since system cannot not possibly read a number higher than physically available, it can only be 3gb.

If you look on your computer or laptop, the available memory is never going to be 100% of the total memory. What you're seeing is normal and occurs with every device.... BB, iOS, Windows Mobile, and Android.

Like mavrrick said, the OS and Video reserve memory space ND the running Apps take the rest

That's normal. Some RAM is reserved for the system. All computer systems do this.

Its not a gimmick. Ram is reserved for stability. The 2.3 is what you have left to dink around with apps, multitasking, and widgets. I wish some optimizations come out to make it 2.5. I was always close to running out of my 2gb of ram on my Nexus tablet. I was quite peeved for a while cause I tried to use ram apps to account for all my ram used and even with a calculator I couldn't figure out where it all was till I called google and they said reserved for cpu, and gpu
