I am switching to Verizon and the 32 GB is the only Pixel XL in stock so I have it on order. I am torn between the Pixel and the V20, but I could get the Pixel if the storage would work. I currently only have about 15 out of 32 GB on my LG G5 spoken for and I stream music and use Google photos. I understand there is unlimited storage through Google for videos and photos and I stream my music. Soooo... I don't know what to do. I don't want to buy too little storage and I don't want too much. If storage will be an issue, I'll get the V20. Verizon said they would waive the restock fee if I return it within the 2 week window. Any thoughts???

It's up to you. People use their phones differently. I personally can get by with 32 and 64. 128 is way too much for me. I don't keep all my movies, pics on my phone. Some people do.

I think this is your answer - give it a try and see how it works out.

I happily bought a 32GB Pixel and have no problem keeping it more than 50% empty. It all depends on your use case.

If you need dozens of movies and/or thousands of mp3s at your fingertips, 32GB won't work for you. Or, if you just like to have tons of random data on your phone at all times, it won't work either. Another issue could be if you need hundreds/hundreds of apps installed at all times.

This just isn't my use case, and will never be. I've posted on this topic before on this forum.

I'll share again that I bought a large OTG drive when I bought my Note 5 last year b/c it *only* had 32GB. Where will I put all the movies and songs I have to access all the time? I put tons of songs and movies on my OTG and I was all set.

For a year, I never once used or needed that OTG drive. Never. Then I bought a Note 7, 64GB, it remained 75% empty until I returned it.

So, it's really up to you. For many of us 32GB isn't just "manageable", it's downright wonderful. :)

Funny thing, I will admit that I now own a 128GB OTG drive to use with my meager 32GB Pixel.
Wanna bet that I don't even use that thing once?? :)

I went with the 128 GB. While I think I could have managed with the 32 GB .. I just didn't want to have to. With 128 GB I will never have to think about space even when pinning movies and music when I go on a trip.

I opted for the 32GB Quite Black Pixel XL. I have 20.70 GB of available storage after downloading all of my apps. Photos and videos will be backed up to google photos and free up the space on my device. I do not keep movies or songs on my device so need for it. For me, personally, 32GB is more than enough. If you like to store stuff on your phone all of the time, then 32GB would not work. Otherwise, go for the 32GB model and spend the extra $100+ on a case and screen protector.

I just ordered a 128. The device storage on my S5 is over 80% full at any given time, and the 64GB SD card is half full (photos and music). But the two main reasons I went 128 are:

1) I commute by train, and having something stream is iffy because my 1 hr train ride has spotty service in places. Things like Pandora and Accuradio cut out frequently.
2) When up at the cottage in Canada on vacation, there is no internet or cell service of any kind, so any music that's not on the phone isn't accessible, and I hate carrying multiple devices.

The 128 was an easy choice for me.

Exactly what I expect of someone who gets the 128GB! If service is bad in your area or you will be away from wifi then the 128GB is an easy choice. Luckily for me I am almost always connected to wifi and I have great service. Made the 32GB an easy choice for me. I do think of would have been nice if they offered a 64GB as I think that is the sweet spot! Lol

I can definitely say that if a 64 was offered, that's what I would have ordered. Adding the 12-ish GB that I'm using of the internal storage to the 32-ish I'm using of the SD card would leave me 20GB free. By the time I filled that up, I'd probably be ready for my next phone.

I got the 32gb but I've got the 128gb on order. I can make due with 32 but I want to future proof it. In my opinion the v20 is an inferior phone but I did like that bigger screen.

Photo storage is great. With the Pixel Google gives you free unlimited storage on Google Drive in High res. I take a lot of pics and upload them using wifi as soon as possible. You long press Photos and a shortcut appears that says Free up Space. Pixel knows what files you have already uploaded and gives you the option to delete the local copy, which I do.

When looking a photos Pixel will show your content of the pics on Google Drive. Google Assistant does a fast search. For example if say Hey Google, show me pictures of dogs it will scan your Google drive and show you pics with dogs in it. Cool.

I really like the Pixel. I think Google hit a home run. The phone looks like an iPhone but the fingerprint sensor is on back instead of front.

I was an LG fan due to replaceable batteries. I do not think I would ever need to with the Pixel. Battery life is really good. Fast charge is amazing.

I bought the 32G. No sense wasting money. I also have a RavPower WiFi desk with 128G SD card. I can load it up with lots of music and video and play via wifi.

I think camera is great!

One other thing that drove my decision to grab a 32G Pixel was that I was a Note 7 refugee. My N7 had to go back, and I needed a phone pronto.

I pre-ordered at Best Buy and the only model available during pre-order was 32GB. So beyond the strategies of data usage mentioned above (and in other threads) getting a Pixel XL for $299 (on-contract) with no wait, with a free new-gen Chromecast and a $100 gift card (making it feel more like a $199 purchase) was a no-brainer for me. Waiting a month any paying more for storage I don't need made no sense.

So, if really comes down to what fits your needs - no one else's.

I'm thinking I could get by with 32GB. I will use the cloud storage for photos, and already have all my music on the cloud as well. I basically only listen to it when wifi is available.

Sounds like a lot of compromises are being made. I wanted to spend a little more now to worry a lot less later. I sprung for the 128. Unlimited storage for pics is great but the data usage required would outweigh the benefits for me really fast. To each their own.
