Am I missing something or does this leak make this free? I swear I used to get a redirect when I tried this before.

Its probably not locked down for account authorization because its a development leak.

Sooo...can anybody confirm this without having to wait a whole month to see if their monthly bill changed?

Mine brings me right to the menu that lets me create the password and start it..no pricing screen or anything.

Never rooted or had the service before. But im not using it until someone else confirms it is free, I don't have the cash to drop on a 500+ dollar phone bill.

What happens when you connect a pc or laptop to it and try to browse the net?

I can open the app, create a wifi ssd and password and start it but as soon as I try to connect to the net on my laptop, I get the verizon pricing screen.

Im not rooted and it takes me righ in to put my password in im not rooted and am not paying for the hotspot so I guess it would be free?

If you are installing a leaked rom you might as well root it too to use the free wifi tether. We all know that eventually we will be charged for the Verizon version

It definitely is not free unrooted. You can create a password, turn the hot spot on and even connect a laptop to it, but once you open a browser it is redirected to a Verizon pricing screen prompting you to call a number to add the feature to your account.

I was excited the first time to when my laptop connected no problem but that ended when I actually tried to go to a web site.

OK, question from an Android & tech noob. On the Verizon subscription page for the 3G Mobile Hotspot it says the $20/month fee gives you 2 GB a month allowance with an additional charge after that. My question is, how much would 2 GB represent? My thought was that I would be using the hotspot to play some online games, maybe 5-10 hours per week.

Is there any way to tell how much data I'm using playing these games?

Thanks

I know a game like Team Fortress 2 uses about 30-40 mb of bandwidth per hour of play on a full server.

I am not sure what you guys are talking but it sounds like mine was unlocked when I had 2.1 I never got the redirect to verizon it let me go in and create a password even when I had 2.1 and with 2.2 it is still allowing me to do it.

So is this something that we are getting charged for?? I guess I will have to check on my bill.
