3G Issue

I'm having a weird issue on my X with 3G. I work in an area that is technically a Roaming area for Verizon. The 3rd party carrier in the area DOES have a 3G network. When I arrive at work in the morning, my 3G logo appears at the top of the screen, but the up and down arrows do not glow. At this point, I have absolutely no data coverage, just voice. My temporary fix is to enable Airplane Mode and then disable Airplane Mode. Right after disabling Airplane Mode, the phone goes into 1X for about 5 seconds and then swoops into 3G with up and down arrows. After a period of not using my 3G data, the issue comes back until I perform the whole thing again.

Anyone know if this could possibly be a configuration issue on the X? Can I change some of the settings around (i.e. turn off Automatic Connection)?

ya, *228 option 2 would be my first step in figuring it out

This is a known issue on the X. Head over the the Motorola forums in the Droid X section and you will read about it. People are freaking out about this issue. Hope it is only software related. Luckily no problems for me yet. Also, some have stated that the *228 option 1 and 2 did nothing to help the issue.
