3g not working

When i use the Phone Info app to change the network connection from CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto to CDMA auto (PRL), I am not getting a 3g signal, I just see the signal strength bars. I live in a 4g area and 4g works just fine. Does anyone know how to fix this?
